Welcome to our

Empower community

Coaching, Inspiration, Motivation

Empower Wellbeing is the brainchild of Joanne Juliff, a time served teacher, leader, coach and ex-couch potato, marathon running mother of 3. Joanne's experience has led to the development of Empower Wellbeing's 7 point programme - which can help you take action to change your life. A no - nonsense, no grizzling approach to inspiring you to reflect on your current situation and unlock your true potential.

Empowering you to make the changes you want.

As a result of personal experience I understand first hand the frustration of feeling like there is more out there for you, but not knowing where to turn to first. Pressures of daily life - of working, caring for family, children, elderly parents, looking after others and feeling as if everyone wants a bit of you - often leaves nothing left for you.

Using the 7 point Wellbeing Programme as a focus, working with Empower will encourage you to step back, take a breath and take time to reflect, to take time for you.

Chatting with others, sharing experiences, meeting new people and reminding ourselves of the things which are important to us are key to what working with Empower can bring to your life. Add to that - challenging ourselves to try new experiences and challenges will help get you out of your comfort zone and remind you of how capable you truly are. That’s why my mission is simple: to empower individuals to take action to improve their Wellbeing, using the strategies they need to feel happy, healthy, and capable of managing life’s pressures. My Story

How Empower Began and Where I’m Headed

I was a Head of History in three different secondary schools in South Wales from 1995-2010 and I LOVED being a teacher. I was made redundant when I was on maternity leave with my youngest daughter, Oliva. I lost 4 stone with Weightwatchers in 2009 and became a Weightwatchers leader. alongside my teaching job - good job really, as after my redundancy I spent the next 8 years loving every minute of what was an amazing job, whilst raising my young family, Grace, Daniel and now Olivia.

Losing my teaching job, the only career I'd ever wanted, totally devastated me - being a stay-at-home mum had never been part of my life plan, and yet here I was with 3 children under 3 and a half.

During this time, it's no exaggeration to say EVERYTHING changed - my expectations of life and others, my fundamental values - all of it. The person I am now is unrecognisable to Joanne, the career woman.

I can pinpoint exactly when my passion for all things Wellbeing started - it was when Weightwatchers launched a book called 'SMILE' - it was a game changer for me, I felt it spoke right to me. I understood from that moment that lots of us weren't living a happy and fulfilled life, but just surviving life on a hamster wheel - this is especially true of professional women of a certain age (35-50).

From that moment I've been on a mission to make my life work for me, and to spread the Empower message (although Empower wasn't actually born in name then, but it's always been within me) - despite a divorce and the loss of my mother - I became more active, learned to run and to date have run 14  half marathons and Merthyr marathon in 2017. Learning to run showed me I'm capable of anything - I spent years claiming I could never run, I had simply never applied myself or tried hard enough.

Empower Wellbeing was born in November 2018 - when I realised I had an important message to share.

I truly believe you can make your life work for you. Life is a series of choices, if you're not happy, I'm here to inspire, motivate, encourage, support and empower you to make different choices to improve your Wellbeing.

The children were there at the end, and Daniel crossed the finish line with me. This was easily one of the proudest moments of my life. Aged 44, I felt I could conquer the world, after a turbulent few years, it helped me put the past behind me, and I've never looked back. It really is about so much more than running.
This is the reason I'm so passionate about spreading the word about the importance of believing yourself and taking that leap of faith into the unknown.

Joanne has helped me believe I deserve to prioritise myself and my Wellbeing as a matter of necessity. Since starting the Empower Programme she has helped me see my self worth, helped me become more confident in myself and my abilities, and also helped me realise that my worth is not a number on a scale. I'll always be grateful to Joanne for helping me change my life for the better.

It's so refreshing to be part of a group of people who take every opportunity to build each other up and celebrate each other's successes, both small and large. This is the ethos that encapsulates Empower, and it's this support and encouragement which helps you quickly realise it's much more than running.

Jo's Wellbeing sessions are engaging and thought provoking and encourage you to really question yourself, prompting you to change the way you think about yourself and the way you live your life. Jo is a fantastic mentor and coach, who is both encouraging and supportive, whilst not afraid to tell you like it is - I think we all need a bit of straight-talking at times. I can't recommend Empower enough - it was a massive step for me to join, but I'm so glad I've got to experience the Empower magic for myself. It has been, quite literally, life changing.
